Developed a study design and field protocols for a study on the effects of ranching on water quality in southern B.C. Parameters of interest include turbidity, total suspended solids, nutrients, fecal coliform bacteria, and the parasites Cryptosporidium and Giardia. Completed a literature review. Identified and characterized six study ranches. Established water quality monitoring stations, including installation of flow monitoring sites. Monitoring began in February 2000 and will continue for about two and a half years.
