Developed a seasonal hydrologic and water quality model for the portion of Guichon Creek
downstream of the Highland Valley Copper mine. The model accounts for natural flows as
well as storage and withdrawals for irrigation, domestic, and mining use. The model is
run within a Windows (TM) user interface, and will be used to predict molybdenum
concentrations in downstream surface water following mine closure under various mine
reclamation and treatment scenarios. Molybdenum is potentially toxic to cattle
that graze on forage irrigated with the creek water.
