Completed an Environmental Impact Assessment of a proposed increase in the rate of aquifer dewatering at the Highland Valley Copper mine near Logan Lake B.C. The pumped water is proposed to be discharged into Guichon Creek. Assessed potential impacts on hydrology, water temperature, water chemistry, sediment transport, fish and aquatic resources, and wildlife resources. Developed comprehensive mitigation and monitoring plans. Prepared a Project Application to the B.C. Environmental Assessment Office and attended review meetings with government agency staff and stakeholders. The proponent received a Project Approval Certificate in August 2002.
